Proudly wear a wonderful piece of history with this pre-owned great condition Avirex Varsity type jacket size 2XL. The Tuskegee airmen we nick-named the Red Tails. This beautifuly detailed jacket has wonderful patches on front, back and shoulder. The back patch is made from chenille and felt. Nicely embroidered with the dipiction of the red tail fighter planes. Sleeves and colar are a nice ivory colored leather. Wool and nylon blend. Quilted lining inside has wear, see photos, but otherwise this jacket is in great condition. Very slight light wear on elbows which should clean up nicely, see photo. Large certificate of Authenticity "The Lucky Seven" is attached inside. Black and ivory stretch waist and sleeve trims. The Tuskegee Airmen from 1941 to 1946 with a little under 1,000 black men graduated with commisions and pilot wings from Tuskegge Army Air Field in Tuskegee, Alabama. These were the first black American aviators to serve in combat. Tuskegee Airmen were pilots whose heroic World War II exploits helped persuade President Harry Truman to end segregation across the entire military. The Red Tails escort never lost a bomber plane. This is in great condition for its age with no rips, tears or stains.
